Beats the throw
Jack van Kessel was about to reach first base safely as North Dundas District High School staffer Deanna Corbett-White waited for the throw to reach her glove. The play occurred during the school’s annual students versus teachers three-pitch game. Last Friday’s (Sept. 16) event also included a fundraising BBQ prior to the game, which featured bleachers filled with cheering students who were supported by mascot Taz, drummers, and pompom-waving student council cheerleaders leading the wave. The teachers prevailed 9-7 thanks to a last-inning, one-out, two-run sac fly by Jevon Groves. More photos on page 11.
