Walter Baker
Walter Baker of Inkerman died following
a brief illness on June 24, 2003 at Winchester District Memorial
Hospital. He was 95.
He was born in Danville, Quebec on May 31, 1908 to the late Edwin
Baker and Sara (nee Harvey). He was born and raised in Danville
where he lived for 92 years before moving to Inkerman three years
ago. He was predeceased by wife Alice Baker (nee Welsh).
He will be remembered by children Ethel, Isabel and Edwin, all
of Inkerman.
Mr. Baker was a member of the Golden Rule IOOF Lodge #13 in Danville
for over 35 years. He was a hard worker, and in addition to being
a farmer, he was also a professional beekeeper and was well known
throughout the eastern townships of Quebec for his clover honey.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he was an excellent marksman.
Friends called at Trinity United Church in Danville on June 28.
The funeral was held at Trinity United Church the same day, with
Rev. Reginald Jennings officiating. Interment of cremated remains
was at the Danville Protestant Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted
to the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
Pallbearers were Elwood Coons, Francis Saffin, Brian Lodge and
Ian Smith. Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital
would be appreciated by the family.
