Eva Mae Summers
Eva Mae Summers passed away at Winchester District
Memorial Hospital on March 30, 2006. Eva went home to be with
her Lord and Savior following a three week illness. She was 91.
She was born on July 7, 1914 in Cobden to the late John Gibson
and Abigail Virgin. She was predeceased by her husband Ollie R.
Summers (1975), whom she married in 1938. She is survived by children
Gail (Charlie) Burrell of Cardinal, Cleo (John) Scardino of Stittsville,
Gordon (Sue) of Simcoe, Dean (Jill) of Iroquois, Arlene (Wayne)
Anderson of Broomal, PA, and Anne (Dave) Ellis of Vernon, BC.
She was sister-in-law of Pearl Summers of Winchester, Helen Summers
of Winchester, and Margaret Johansen of Prescott. She was the
loving grandmother of 19 dearly beloved grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sons Glenn R. Summers and John R. Summers,
five brothers Herbert, Floyd, Stanley, Gordon, and Stirling Gibson,
and a sister Mary (Raymond) Douglas.
She lived for the last 60 years at home at 39 Caldwell Drive in
Iroquois. She was primarily a homemaker, but did work for several
years at the tourist booth in Iroquois, the Iroquois post office,
and the Iroquois library. She was a member of the Stitch and Chat
group in Iroquois. She was a member of the Morrisburg Pentecostal
Tabernacle. In her earlier years, she was an active member of
the Iroquois United Church Women and the Iroquois Women's Institute.
Visitation was held at Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in
Iroquois on April 5. The funeral service was held at the funeral
home on April 6 with Pastor Duncan Perry officiating, followed
by interment at Iroquois Point Cemetery. The pallbearers were
Kyle Summers, Ian Summers, Brandon Burrell, Nicholas Burrell,
Charlie Burrell, and Michael Ellis.
