Martin vanLanen
Martin vanLanen of South Mountain passed away
after a courageous battle on April 22, 2006 at the Ottawa Hospital
General Campus.
He was born in Nistelrode, Holland on Feb. 12, 1917. He was the
beloved husband of the late Betty. He was the loving father of
John (Penny), Martin (Gloria), Anne Berube (Richard), Willie (Ans),
Mary McDermid (Eric), Neil (Verna), Christine vanLanen (Rick),
Annette Hummel (Sam), and Darlene Strader (Jim).
He was precious Opa of 30 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was the loving brother of Doortje deLouw (the late Jan), Mein
Hendriks (the late Antoon), Gerda (Antoon) deLoop, Cor (Fien)
vanLanen, Joke deLaat (the late Jos), and sister-in-law Marie
vanLanen, all of Holland, and he was predeceased by Jan, Theo,
Anna vanLanen, Corrie (Harry) Broeksteeg, and Andre vanLanen.
He was the dear brother-in-law of Anna Laarakkers (the late Marinus),
Delia and Dina vandenBroek, and predeceased by Doortje Broks (Jos),
Nick, Wim, Jan (Dina), and Gerard vandenBroek. He was the loving
uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He rested at the Byers Funeral Home in South Mountain on April
24. The funeral service was held on April 25 at St. Daniel's Roman
Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial, followed by interment
at St. Daniel's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
By family request, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
