Leo Arthur Brodeur
Leo Brodeur, a resident of Williamsburg for
the past six years, passed away at Winchester District Memorial
Hospital on Wed., May 21, 2008. He was 78.
Leo was born in Cornwall, the sixth of 12 children, to the late
Ernest and Marie Brodeur (nee Girard), and grew up in the Cornwall
area.
On February, 7, 1953 he married Irene Paul and together they
had two daughters Cindy and Cheri. He lived many places in his
married life, including Europe and settled in Ottawa for 27 years.
After retiring from hair styling in 1990 the family moved to their
dream house they had built on the lake in Delta, Ontario. The
last few years had been spent north-east of Williamsburg.
He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his
sense of humour, his helpfulness, and his sociable personality.
He had numerous interests including travelling, fishing, playing
cards or board games, playing bingo, going to casinos, reading,
and history, as well as watching old Westerns.
Leo is survived by his daughters Cindy (Paul) Kelly of Metcalfe,
and Cheri (Gord) Lynn of Williamsburg, his grandchildren Chrissy
(Jason) Robinson, Lisa Kelly, Brad (Jess) Lynn, Ryan Kelly, Darcy
Lynn and great-grandchildren Emily Robinson, Logan Lynn, and Chloe
Lynn.
He will be fondly remembered by his siblings Edith Gauthier of
Woodstock, Lorraine (Roger) Derasp of Brockville, Shirley (Elgin)
Foster of Woodstock, Roy (Doreen) Brodeur of Truro, and sister-in-law
Silverine Brodeur of Woodstock. He was predeceased by his wife
of 53 years Irene, his parents Ernest and Marie Brodeur, sisters
Loretta Proulx, Margaret Pyke, and Leona Brodeur, and brothers
Lloyd, Leonard, Roger, and Ronald Brodeur. He is also survived
by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Fri., May 23. The funeral service was held at the funeral home
on Sat., May 24 with Rev. Wendy Wright-Mckenzie officiating, followed
by interment of cremated remains at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
The pallbearers were Brad Lynn, Ryan Kelly, Jason Robinson, Rickey
Paul, Ken Gratton, and Mark Kelly.
Donations to Dundas County Hospice or the Trinity United Church
in Chesterville would be appreciated by the family.
