Florence Maguire
Florence Maguire (nee Scott) passed away peacefully
at the Englehart and District Hospital on Sun., Nov. 23, 2008
at the young age of 93. She fought a courageous battle with cancer
but remained witty and vibrant to the end.
She was born in Elk Lake, Ont. on Sept. 12, 1915 to the late Mary
(nee Millor) and the late William Scott, owners of Elk Lake Dairy.
She was predeceased by her husband Holace (Mickey), daughter Jean
Thompson, sisters Ethel (Stan) Welsh, Nellie (Fred) Veltri, Winnifred
(Gordon) Emms, and brothers Wilfred (Esther), Richard, and Wilson
(Alberta Overland) Scott, and John (Anne) Stadden. She is survived
by sister Mary (Steve) Kingston, sister-in-law Nollie (Guy) McGillivray
of Sault St. Marie, daughters Shirley (Bill) Blackburn, Valerie
(David) Flowers of Winchester, Darlene (Garry) Ames, and son Wayne
(Jean) Maguire of Sudbury.
She will be fondly remembered by nine grandchildren: Darcey (Ed)
Link, Trevor (Laura) Blackburn, Holly (Tom) Henninger of Oshawa,
Darren (Amy) Loiselle, Shawna (Dave) Loiselle, Andrea Flowers
of Ottawa, Michael Flowers of Toronto, Brendan Flowers of Toronto,
and Melanie Flowers of Ottawa. She was the treasured great-grandmother
to Stacey (Cliff) Borgford, Brandon Link of Edmonton, Kayla, and
Tayler Backburn, Julia and Jakob Henninger of Oshawa, Halie Loiselle,
Sierra and McKenna Livingston, and Meggan, Nicholas, and Matthew
Loiselle, and the great-great-grandmother to Ty, Cody, Jessie,
Cole, Tanner, and Brett Borgford, and aunt to many special nieces
and nephews.
She dedicated herself to her loving family, and was always anxious
to help others. She was actively involved with the Northern Beacon
Rebekah Lodge, Hospital tuck shop, and Emmanuel United Church.
She loved to curl, garden, and travel, and her zest for life was
an inspiration to family and special friends.
The family received friends at the McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart
on Mon., Nov. 24. The funeral service was held at the Emmanuel
United Church on Tue., Nov. 25 with Rev. Jessica Cottrell officiating
followed by Interment at the Englehart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society
were gratefully appreciated.
