A lifetime resident of the area, Lana Barkley of Hanesville passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Thurs., June 16, 2016, following a one year battle with cancer. She was 65.
She was born in Hulbert on Feb. 15, 1951 to her parents, Ray and Jean Adams (nee McIntosh).
She was a devoted member of the staff at Community Living Dundas County for more than 33 years, and will be dearly missed by her clients and her fellow workers.
Lana enjoyed travelling, going to the casino, and watching horse races. She possessed a wonderful sense of humour, and she loved to laugh and joke with her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving companion, Henry Simzer; her son, Rob Barkley (Sonya Francis) of South Mountain; the light of her life and her only granddaughter, Elly Jean; and her brother, Almon Adams of Hulbert. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Eleanor Francis; and her brother, Lee Adams. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Lana’s life will be held at Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Fri., June 24 from 1 to 3 pm, followed by interment of cremated remains at Spruce Haven Cemetery in Brinston.
