OTTAWA -– It was not your usual tight-checking championship game as the Ottawa Junior Senators, captained by Hallville native Owen Guy, crushed College Francais de Longueuil 10-1 in the Fred Page Cup final Sun., May 6.

Everyone expected a close game as the Sens had scored just two five-on-five goals in their first three games and seven of their top eight goal scorers from the regular season hadn’t yet scored in the tournament. Well, the floodgates opened on Sunday with Gabriel Morin leading the way with three markers.

Longueuil closed the gap to a 3-1 deficit seven minutes into the second, but the Jr. Sens pulled away with three goals by Guy, Darcy Walsh and Pierre-Luc Veillette in just over three minutes at the end of the period as the Jr. Sens headed to the second intermission with an insurmountable 6-1 lead.

The Jr. Sens trailed the same Longueuil team 2-0 in the third period Friday before winning 3-2 in a shootout. That loss forced Longueuil to play a semi-final game on Sat., May 5 and the championship game marked the fifth game for the squad in five days.
