James Kenneth Carlyle, CPA, CA
James K. Carlyle passed away with peace and grace on Tues., April 8, 2014 at Brockville General Hospital with family by his side. He was 88.
He was born in Winchester to Kenneth and Annie (nee McVey) Carlyle. He was loved and treasured by his wife of 62 years, Muriel (nee Armstrong), his son, Malcolm (Lisa), his daughter, Marianne, and grandchildren Lily, Jaegar, Erik, Sara, and Cameron. He was the dear brother of George (Elaine) of Kingston. He is survived by his dear sisters-in-law, Doris (Cliff Cotton) of Belleville, and Norma (Edwin Duncan) of Winchester. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
James remained active, and was cherished by his friends and fellow Rotarians, Masonic Lodge brothers , various athletic organizations, and after retiring as a partner from Geo. A. Welch and Co. He was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, as well as Past Master of the Sussex Masonic Lodge, No. 5, where he was a member for more than 50 years.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James St. East in Brockville on Thurs., April 24 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm, and on Fri., April 25 from 1 until 2 pm when a ceremony celebrating James’ life will be held in the chapel. Officers and members of Sussex Masonic Lodge No. 5 will gather for a memorial service on Fri., April 25 at 12:45 pm.
James supported, and would ask for, memorials to be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kidney Foundation, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or the charity of your choice.
