Those braving the winter weather would be happy with six more weeks of winter if it’s anything like the events at this year’s Chesterville Winter Carnival Fri., Feb 9 to Sun., Feb. 11. Music, dancing, darts, skating, hockey and hot breakfasts were all served up to villagers eager to break out of the mid-winter cabin fever. This year’s three-on-three hockey tournament saw strong numbers once again and the public skating also drew quite a crowd taking advantage of the ice time. Slight of hand and deft of touch were on display with darts and euchre tournaments at the Royal Canadian Legion Chesterville Branch 434 on Friday night and Saturday afternoon respectively. Organizers were pleased with the turnout and hope to get an earlier start on next years’ event to build on the success of this year. The Chesterville Public School spaghetti supper wrapped up the event on Sunday evening.

Firefighters Matt Giles (left), Anne McLean and Kent Merkley served up a delicious early morning breakfast.
