Judith Ann Corkery

After a courageous battle with breast cancer, Judi Corkery (nee Smithson) peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by friends, family, and her husband, Shawn Corkery, of 33 years.
Judi was born in Hamilton, Ont. on  Jan. 22, 1962. She was a Warrant Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, later she was a Configuration Management Specialist and Chief Librarian at the DLCSPM Software Library at ISEC and DND for 16 years; and a member of the North Grenville Choir since its inception (20 years), where she had many friends, before retiring in 2013 due to her illness.
She will be dearly missed by children Sharon and James; her cherished granddaughter, Samantha; her father, Ron Smithson (predeceased by her mother Mary); her brothers, Michael (Joanne), John (June), Joe (Ann), and Bill (Nancy); her sister, Kathy; and her in-laws, Michael (Cathy), David (Janet), and Steve (Donna). She will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and will be fondly remembered always by her dear friends for her warm smile, sense of humour, and compassion for others.
A Celebration of Life was held Fri., June 3 at Winchester Legion Branch 108. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Stoney Creek, Ont. on June 10, followed by interment at Mountview Gardens Cemetery in Winona, Ont.
At Judi and the family’s request, donations may be made, in Judi’s memory, to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation Cancer Care Clinic or to Dundas County Hospice, PO Box 28, Williamsburg, K0C 2H0.
