Archie “Bruce” Coulthart
Bruce Coulthart of Chesterville, formerly of Ottawa and Morewood, suddenly passed into the arms of Jesus at home on Wed., April 8, 2015. He was 62.
He was the best friend and husband of 37 years to Laura Lee Macdonald Coulthart. He was the dedicated Dad to Martha Coulthart of North Vancouver and Keith Coulthart of Ottawa. Bruce was the dear brother of Kathryn Odgaard of Galiano Island, B.C, Phyllis Milne (Doug) of Salford, Ont., Ian (Reina) of Griffith, Ont., Lloyd (Janet) of Prince George, B.C., Janice Paquette of Chesterville, Gordon (Cathy) of Ottawa, John (Janet) of Casselman, and Colleen McLaughlin (Bob) of Morewood. He was the beloved son-in-law of Catherine (Renee) Macdonald of White Rock, B.C. He was predeceased by his parents, Archie and Louva Coulthart (nee Allison), and his infant sister, Lorna. He will be fondly remembered as Uncle Bruce by many nieces and nephews.
He was generous, funny, shy, kind-hearted, a Bible scholar, and a wizard of a handy-man around the house. To all dogs, he was a loyal friend and protector. Bruce was a farmer at heart, yet he worked for more than 30 years with high tech-firms of Digital Equipment, Mitel, and Breckon Ridge. He then retired to a contented quasi-Lumberjack life.We are pretty sure he is busy now felling trees, and caring for all the puppy dogs who are with him in heaven.
Donations to help homeless dogs (The Ottawa Humane Society) would be a very “Bruce” thing that you might do in his memory.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sat., May 9 at Christ Church United, Casselman St. in Chesterville. If you are able, Laura, Martha and Keith encourage you to wear a plaid shirt or jacket on the day.
