MAPLE RIDGE – Six members of the North Dundas District High School Devils track team earned first-place points competing in the 2017 SD&G track and field championships.

The tri-county competition, held in conjunction with the Prescott-Russell board championship meet took place at the Terry Fox Facility in Ottawa last week (Tues., May 9). There were 13 schools from SD&G and nine from Prescott-Russell entered in the event. The top four finishers qualified for EOSSAA, which will be held Thursday (May 18) and Friday (May 19) at TISS in Brockville.

North Dundas coach Patti Hall reported 12 of the 17 Devils who took part in the SD&G meet will move on to EOSSAA.

Golden efforts

The gold medal winners included Liam Antille – 300m hurdles, Curtis Bell – 100m hurdles, Fabienne Puenter – 1,500m, Zach Hamilton – long jump, Jamie Quinton – 100m hurdles, Dylan Barkley – 100m hurdles and the midget boys 4x100m relay team.

EOSSAA bound

Antille also qualified in both the 200m and high jump finishing second, as did Bell with second-place finishes in both the 100m and 200m.

Puenter was also third in both the 300m hurdles and 800m.

Justin Schoenfeld – third in the 1,500m.

Cam Hermer – third in both the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles.

Chase Holmes – fourth 400m.

Jacob Holmes – fourth 200m.

Ashley Wheeler – fourth – 1,500m.

The top finishers at EOSSAA will advance to the Regionals (May 25-26) at the Terry Fox Facility. From the Regionals, those who qualify will go to OFSAA in Belleville (June 1-3).
