MAPLE RIDGE – A two-day excursion to Toronto for the 2017 OFSSA Archery Invitational Tournament resulted in some impressive finishes for the North Dundas District High School Devils, who have established a winning reputation at the provincial championships.

Coach Raymond Bougie reported on what he deemed an impressive showing by Logan Billings who stood on the podium as a silver medal winner in the boy’s individual Compound Unlimited class competition.

The Devils Compound Unlimited team of Jared Wicks, Seb Rutherford, Matt Irven and Rhyce Sherrer earned the bronze medal in their event held last Thursday (May 17).

The following day (May 18), Payton Halpenny and Cyrill Jaquemet entered the competition. Halpenny wound up in fourth place among 71 archers in the Female Recurve class while Jaquemet squared off against 90 archers from around Ontario and finished in ninth place.

Bougie praised the efforts and dedication of this year’s team noting they practiced at school two days a week for about three hours as well as honing their skills on their own time with several members taking lessons from national-level coach Kathy Millar at South Nation Archery Supply.
