Lorna E. E. Dixon

Lorna Dixon (nee Johnson) of Winchester and Ottawa passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Thurs., May 19, 2016 in her 96th year.
She was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd S. Dixon of Winchester. She was the loving mother and mother-in-law of John (Patty), Donna (Debby), Debbie (Art), Joan (Ron), and Jim (Mary-Ellen). She was the very proud grandmother of Scott and Lauren Dixon; Clint, Jason and Beejay Duff; Michael and Adam Arden; and Stephen and Kaitlin Dixon. She was the great-grandmother of seven. Lorna is also survived by her brother, Walter Johnson (Muriel), four nieces, a nephew, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, her much-loved sister, Beatrice Elliott (George), her parents, (Irma and Elzie Johnson), her parents-in-law, (Lottie and Les Dixon), and her sister and brother-in-law (Ruth and Dwight Jones).
Lorna lived in Winchester from the time of her marriage (1946) until her move to a retirement home in Ottawa in 2014. In addition to raising her family, she worked as a nurse (BGH graduate -1942) both privately and at  Winchester District Memorial Hospital, and helped Lloyd with his grocery business. She was a member of Winchester United Church, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the WDMH Retired Nurses’ Association. Lorna had a long-term interest in all things Winchester: the hospital, the church, charity events, the promotional activities, and both new and old friends.
A memorial visitation was held on Wed., May 25 at the Daniels Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry Funeral Home in Winchester (613-774-1117) with Rev. C. Lowson officiating, followed by the funeral service and reception. Interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery will take place at a later date.
