Hubert Ellwood Docksteader
Hubert Ellwood Docksteader passed away on Sun.,Sept. 21, 2008 at the Hartford Retirement Centre in Morrisburg.
He was born on the family farm in Cloverdale, north of Winchesteron July 7, 1920 to the late Thomas Alexander Docksteader and MableLough. He was the beloved brother of Dr. Dalton Docksteader ofBurlington (formerly of Chesterville). He was the uncle of JaniceDocksteader Richards (David) of Oakville, and Dr. Brian Docksteader(Pamela) of Calgary, and great-uncle of Ryan, Mark, and AshleyDocksteader all of Calgary. He will be missed by his many cousinsand extended family to whom he was very close.
A farmer all of his life, Hubert loved his family and friends,and was a very private man who always made everyone feel comfortable.He was very grateful and appreciative of the support of his family,cousins, friends, and the management and staff of the HartfordRetirement Centre.
The funeral service was held at the Winchester Funeral Home onSat., Sept. 27 with Rev. Angus MacDonald officiating, Pastor BruceNorth assisted, David Richards gave the eulogy, and Dawn Campbellplayed the organ. The pallbearers were Keith Last, Arden Black,Mervyn Patterson, Ryan Docksteader, Mark Docksteader, and AshleyDocksteader. Interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery followed the service,and a reception was held at Winchelsea Farms, Hubert’s old farm.
The family would like to thank everyone who was part of the service,those who made donations in support of various charities, thosewho attended, as well as the management and staff of the WinchesterFuneral Home, Winchelsea Farms, and the Hartford Retirement Centre.
