Wendy Roxanne Earl
Wendy Earl of Ottawa, formerly of Winchester, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Sun., April 24, 2011 at the Hospice at May Court in Ottawa, following a long battle with cancer. She was 56.
She was the daughter of Orma Earl (nee Acres) and the late Raymond Earl of Winchester. She was the dearly loved wife of Peter Kemp, and the mother of Jeffrey of Calgary, and Alison of Peterborough and Ottawa. She is survived by her brother, Larry of Vancouver, and her faithful dog, Zack. She is also survived by one uncle and many cousins.
Wendy was a devoted teacher in schools in Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry; at international schools in Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh; and at Cambridge Street Public School in Ottawa (2001-2004). She graduated from Queen’s University with degrees in Physical Education and Science (1977), and Education (1978). She was an avid cross-country skier and canoeist, an environmentalist and co-founder of the Rideau River Watch, a Girl Guides leader, and an active member of Southminster United Church in old South Ottawa.
A memorial service will be held at Southminster United Church, 15 Aylmer Avenue at Bank Street in Ottawa on Thurs., April 28 at 11 am followed by a reception. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Metcalfe. All are welcome.
