Eva Beatrice Elliott
Beatrice Elliott (nee Johnson) of Winchester passed away peacefully at Dundas Manor on Fri., Sept. 25, 2015 in her 97th year.
She was born Nov. 19, 1918 at Toyes Hill, the first child of Elzie and Irma Johnson (nee McIntosh). Bea married George Elliott on Aug. 27,1947. He passed away June 12, 1987. Bea is survived by her children, Mary Jane, and Robert (Liz); her grandson, Jameson (Debbie Murphy); and great-granddaughter Gemma Murphy Elliott. She is also survived by her best friend and sister, Lorna (the late Lloyd) Dixon; her brother, Walter (Muriel) Johnson; and by her nieces and nephews: John (Patty) Dixon, Donna Dixon, Debbie (Art) Duff, James (Mary Ellen) Dixon, Joan (Ron) Arden, and Kathryn (Pierre) Joly.
Bea attended Brockville Business College, and worked for Bell Telephone until her marriage. She and George were partners in marriage, parenting, and business. Bea was the last member of the original Winchester and District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary executive, serving as secretary, and later devoted many volunteer hours at the hospital gift shop. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church and was an elder for many years. She was also an accomplished seamstress, and loved to crochet and knit. She touched many lives with her gracious friendship — the definition of a real lady. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family.
Family and friends paid their respects at the Daniels Funeral Chapels Inc. in Winchester on Mon., Sept. 28. The funeral service was held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tues., Sept. 29 at 11 am with Rev. Bruce Kemp officiating, followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
