Grace Effie Erratt
Grace Erratt of Winchester died suddenly at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Thurs., July 7, 2016, in her 93rd year.
She was born in Riceville on Sept. 5, 1923 to her parents, Rueben James Scott and Laura Elizabeth Gates.
She worked for Bell Canada in Riceville, and in Ottawa at the E.B.Eddie factory, and for the government. She married Morley Erratt on June 28, 1947, and together they operated the family farm at the Melvin settlement, and they were blessed with three children — Lynda, Judy, and Scott.
After Grace and Morley retired from farming, Grace worked at Upper Canada Village as an interpreter until she retired in 1988. She was a member of the Winchester United Church.
Grace is survived by her children, Lynda Lafleche (George) of Long Sault, Judy Erratt (Harold Jarrell) of Cumberland, and Scott (Lorilea) of Williamsburg; her sister, Vivian Holmes of Morrisburg; her brother, Keith Scott (Phyllis) of Williamsburg; and her sister-in-law, Elsie Hummel of Winchester. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Grace will be sadly missed by four grandchildren Brandon (Ashley), Amber, David, and Amanda (Jared Pelletier); two great-grandchildren Cassidy and Loric; and her dear friend, Carl Docksteader. She was predeceased by her sisters, Thelma and Ileen, and her brothers George, Ernest, Reuben, Carl, and Clarence Scott. She was a wonderful mother and friend.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Mon., July 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service was held at Winchester United Church on Tues., July 12 at 11 am with Rev. Christine Lowson officiating. Interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville followed the service. The pallbearers were Lester Robinson, Tracey Walker, Dennis Fulton, Wray Holmes, Brian Erratt, and Larry Scott.
