William Henry Froats

William Henry Froats, formerly of Lucan, Ont., passed away peacefully at Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Craig, Ont., on Wed., Jan. 12, 2011, in his 91st year.
He was the beloved husband of Mabel (Robertson) Froats. He was the dear father and father-in-law of Dale and Linda Froats of Lucan, Heather and Fred Schembri of London, and Judy and Paul Melanson of Fredericton, NB. He was the dear grandfather of seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Everett Froats of Brinston. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Elza and Nora Froats, and sisters Grace Burley and Evelyn Thorpe.
Bill spent his early life on a farm in South Mountain, and was in military service during the Second World War, stationed in British Columbia. He moved to Chatham, as a house builder, and it’s where he married. He was a Massey Harris dealer in Glencoe, and purchased Lucan Farm Equipment in 1961, which he operated until his retirement in 1995.
Friends called at the Haskett Funeral Home in Lucan (1-877-227-4211) on Fri., Jan. 14. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on Sat., Jan. 15 with Rev. Kathy Wreford officiating. Cremation with interment at St. James Cemetery will be held at a later date.
A Masonic memorial service was held in the funeral home on Fri., Jan. 14.
