Gunther Giese of Chesterville died on Dec. 25, 2002 at Ottawa General Hospital. He was 70.
He is survived by wife Ilse Giese (nee Fischer), whom he married on July 20, 1956, at the Ottawa Court House.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1932 in Germany to the late Karl Giese and Erna (nee Schwerdtfeger). He worked as a clerk at CarQuest in Ottawa for 24 years before retiring. He lived at his Chesterville address for the previous 26 years. He enjoyed gardening and training standard-bred race horses.
He was born and raised in Germany. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 and settled in Ottawa. In the late 1950s he and his family moved to Navan and they lived there until 1976, when they moved to RR#2 Chesterville.
He is survived by children Derry (Vera) Moke of Chesterville and Cindy Wolfe of Williamsburg. Also surviving are siblings Waltraut Kaiser, Ruth Elbers and Siegrid (Lothar) Hanf, all of Germany.
He was predeceased by brother Eckard.
He will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Jesse Wolfe and Amber Moke. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
There was no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements were entrusted to the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home.
Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
