Florence Helmer

Florence Isabell Helmer (Wyatt-Helmer-Crowder) passed away on Sun., Feb. 17, 2013, at Dundas Manor in Winchester.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1928 in Belmeade, Ont. to the late Hiram (Peter) Wyatt and Eila Bowman.
Florence was a hair dresser in Winchester for many years. She was a founding member of the Winchester Figure Skating Club, and the first woman coucillor for the Village of Winchester.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (John Sloane); Kristi. Daughter through marriage, Nancy (Steen Woeldike); Adrian (Alisia) Brandon, Macie; Andrew (Kimberley), Hannah, Tristan, Brooklyn; and Amanda (Phil Pollock). Son through marriage, Charles Crowder; Kimberly, and Derrick.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Gerald F. Helmer whom she married on Oct. 26, 1952, as well as her second husband, Gordon L. Crowder, whom she married Aug. 8, 1987.
She leaves behind brother, Dennis (Betty) Wyatt of Dundas, and brother-in-law, Denzil (Connie) Crowder of Winchester.
She was predeceased by siblings, Jean Wyatt of Winchester, May (Bob) Pombert of Ottawa, Hilda (Allan) Alford of Chaffey’s Locks, Wilmot (Lois) of Spencerville, Mable (Gordon) Guy of Trenton, Dorothy (Gordon) Davidson of Prescott, Margarat (Stuart) Dalgleish of Vernon, Gracie (Dick) McGillis of Ancaster, and Alice (Cam) Millar of Ottawa.
Friends paid their respects at the Daniels Funeral Chapels Inc. in Winchester on Wed., Feb. 20. The funeral service was held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thurs., Feb. 21 at 11 am with Rev. Blair Paterson officiating, followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were Adrian and Andrew Woeldike; and Tim and Christian Mark.
