Lawrence “Catfish” Hunter

Lawrence “Catfish” Hunter, a lifetime resident of the area, passed away at Carefor Hospice in Cornwall on Thurs., Dec. 4, 2014. He was 64.
Lawrence was born in Matilda Township on Feb. 6, 1950 to his parents, Joe and Marguerite Hunter (nee Marcellus). He graduated from Toyes Hill school and North Dundas District High School. He worked for many years at Parmalat in Winchester until health problems forced him to retire early.
Lawrence enjoyed four-wheeling, fishing, bowling,  playing Texas Hold’em, broomball, baseball, darts, golf, and washer toss. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Yankees fan.
Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a big heart, and he would help anyone in need. He always welcomed everyone that knocked on his door with a smile. He touched many people during his lifetime with his kindness, and he will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him.
Lawrence is survived by his siblings, June Picard of Toyes Hill, Barbara Duff (Terry) of Newington, Linda Brannen (Mike) of Chesterville, Joe of Winchester Springs, Wayne (Liz) of Toyes Hill, and Judy Hunter (Andy Tibben) of Brinston. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Betty Watson, and his brothers, Bill, Robert, and Jake. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Sun., Dec 7 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the spring.
