Marguerite Hunter of Toyes Hill died suddenly on March 27, 2003 at Ottawa General Hospital. She was 82.
She was born in Matilda Township on Feb., 14, 1921 to the late Zeman Marcellus and Epha (nee Beckstead). She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of the area.
She married the late Joe Hunter in Williamsburg on Nov. 17, 1939. He died in 1978.
She is survived by children June Picard of Toyes Hill, John of Toyes Hill, Barbara (Terry) Duff or Newington, Lawrence “Catfish” (Heather Torres) of Williamsburg, Linda (Mike) Brannen of Chesterville, Joe (Cindy) of Toyes Hill, Wayne (Liz) of Toyes Hill, and Judy (Luke) Roskell of Brinston.
Mrs. Hunter is also survived by brother Dwaine (Shirley) Marcellus of Spanish, Ontario. She was predeceased by daughter Betty Watson; sons William and Robert; and brother Cecil Marcellus.
She will be fondly remembered by 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was know as “Ma Hunter” to everyone who knew her. When she enjoyed good health, she was an avid gardener. She also enjoyed shopping and cooking large meals, either for special occasions, or simply for a Sunday dinner when she would hope that some of her family would come and enjoy a meal with her. She lived life to the fullest, but most of all she enjoyed the many good times she spent with her family.
Friends called at Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on March 30. The funeral took place at the funeral home on March31, officiated by Rev. Yvonne Willis. Interment was at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
Pallbearers were Kevin Hunter, Kirk Hunter, Neil Picard, Darryle Young, Mike Fawcett, Duane Watson, Brian Young and Jamie Hunter. An honorary pallbearer was Charles Munroe.
Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
