Wilhelmina Jansen (nee Lucassen) peacefully passed into the care of her dear Lord, after a brief illness, on Thurs., April 4, 2013 in her 89th year.
She was the loving and beloved wife of Herman Jansen for 62 years. She was the selfless and devoted mother of John (Bonnie), Michael (Brenda), Paul (Carole), Gerald (Paola), Ann (the late Noel), Mary (Al), Janet (Derek), Bernie (Lisa), and Irene (Chris). She was the proud Oma to Eric, Matthew, Dani, Sarah, Elisa, Kathryn, Rachel, Kiah, Duncan, Ryan, Aisha, Mieke, Luke, Mallory, predeceased by her granddaughter, Anna, and was the great-Oma to Jack, Spencer, Mia, Dylan, and Evan. She was the dear sister of Marie, Fien, and Gerrit, and the late Annie, Bernard, and Wim, all of Holland.
She emigrated from Holland in 1951, to farm and raise a family at Reid’s Mills in Mountain Township, and then actively retired for the last 15 years in Kemptville.
Wilhelmina was a nurturer who loved knitting, reading, music, and gardening, and infused all family events with her wonderful sense of humour, and poems.
The family is grateful to Dr. Leonard and the staff at Bayfield Manor, Kemptville District Hospital, and Queensway-Carleton Hospital for their kind and attentive care.
The funeral mass was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kemptville on Mon., April 8.
Donations may be made to the Kemptville District Hospital Long-Term Care Unit or a charity of your choice.
The arrangements were entrusted to the Brown Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry in Kemptville (613-258-2435).
