David Charles Levere of Winchester passed away suddenly at home on Mon., Oct.19, 2015. He was 64.
He is survived by the love of his life, Janet (nee Henderson), his wife of 37 years. He was the much-loved father of Alison (David) Summers, Leslie Levere (Craig Adams), and Aaron (Britney) Levere, and the dear Grandpa (Poppa) of Avery, Jameson, Griffin, and Jordyn.
Born in 1951, David grew up on a dairy farm in Van Camp, the son of Edna (nee Cougler) and the late James Levere. He is survived by his older brother, Donald (Lynne), and younger sister, Barbara. When he finished high school, David moved to London to attend the University of Western Ontario, and after graduation began a career with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation where he worked for more than 34 years. He met his bride Janet at the July 1st horse races in South Mountain in 1976. They were married in Mindemoya on Manitoulin Island in 1978. After his retirement, he enjoyed his second career with McIntosh Perry Consulting Engineers.
He will be fondly remembered by his aunts and uncle, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He always enjoyed his home away from home with the Henderson clan on Manitoulin Island.
Over the years, David enjoyed curling, golf, fastball in his earlier years, hunting, volunteering with local organizations, cooking, traveling, and following his kids through all their sporting endeavors while they were growing up. He was a very proud grandfather, and often told funny stories about his grandkids’ latest milestones. He had many wonderful friends and colleagues, and will also be missed by the infamous Liars’ Club.
