BROCKVILLE – More than 700 athletes from Grade 7 and Grade 8 descended on Thousand Islands Secondary School for the 2018 Upper Canada Cup Track and Field Championship Wed., June 13.

When the dust settled, more than a few NDIS students found themselves on the podium, including Jack Link who continued a family tradition of strong showings in track and field with a first place finish in the 800-metres and second place in the 1,500-metres.

Austin Reeve captured gold in triple jump while Jordan Heuff matched that feat in the long jump. McKenzie Reid Stevens took home silver in shot put and Hailey Hodge took bronze in javelin.

The strong showing by these young athletes bodes well for the future of the NDDHS track and field with many of them graduating to Grade 9 next year.
Forty Upper Canada District School Board schools were represented at the competition.
