Leslie Stewart MacDonald

After a life filled with love, laughter, friends,family, and music, Les MacDonald passed away peacefully at LakeridgeHealth in Oshawa on Sun., Oct. 19, 2008.
His family and friends remember a gentle man who was always readyfor a new challenge to conquer or adventure to savour. He wasa great leader who cared deeply for others.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1934 to the late Walter and Laura MacDonald,and was raised in Winchester. He was the dearly beloved husbandof Glenyce, and loving and treasured father of Walter, and Wendy(Dwayne). He was the brother of Eileen (Lorne), and Phyllis, theuncle of many nieces and nephews, and the cherished friend tomany.
Les was an entrepreneur who worked much of his career as an automobiledealer, running Chrysler and General Motors dealerships in Winchester,and Ford dealerships in Oshawa, Bowmanville, Montreal, and Toronto.He also ran a car leasing business in Oshawa, and a van conversionbusiness in Cobourg. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Oshawa,the Nomad Investment Club, and the Canadian Antique PhonographSociety. He served on the Oshawa Harbour Commission, and the DurhamRegion Police Commission. He was previously a member of COPA (CanadianOwners and Pilots Association), the Oshawa Flying Club, OshawaToastmasters, and was a member of the Ford Dealer Council formany years.
The visitation will be held at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124King St. E, in Oshawa on Wed., Oct. 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A Celebration of Life will be held in the chapel of the funeralhome on Thurs., Oct. 23 at 1:30 pm, followed by a reception atthe Oshawa Golf Club. Interment of cremated remains will be atOrmond Cemetery at a later date. The family look forward to sharingbeautiful memories with you.
