Sadly, after a three-and-a-half year valiant battle with cancer, Michelle McCormick passed away on Thurs., March 14, 2013, surrounded by family and friends at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital. She was 42.
She was the beloved mother of John Van Schyndel of Chesterville. Michelle was born in Montreal on July 12, 1970, to parents Mark McCormick and Julia Pyves. She grew up in Montreal, Edmonton, and Moncton with her younger brother, Louis (Labreche).
Vivacious and fun loving, Michelle was a hard worker as well. From a modest start at McDonald’s she moved to waitress, and then manager at Encore Une Fois in Westmount. In 1998, she moved to Chesterville, first working in the woods, and later as a dental assistant with Dr. Carlin in Ottawa.
She lived for her son, John, who was born in Chesterville in 1999, to Michelle and Dan. She is survived by John, by her parents, Julia Pyves (Tom Green) of Montreal, and Mark McCormick of Muskoka, her brother, Louis Labreche of Vancouver, and stepbrothers, Michael Green of Montreal and Andrew Green of Mexico City. She was the beloved niece of Colleen Pyves (Steve Gilbert) of Magog, Richard Pyves (Judy) of Pickering, and Leslie Ryan-Pyves of East Chezzetcook, N.S. She will be fondly remembered by many cousins and friends in both Chesterville and Montreal.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Chesterville on Sat., March 16 from 2 pm until the time of the memorial service at 3 pm, conducted by Rev. Christine Lowson.
There will also be a celebration of her life in Montreal at a future date for friends and family there.
