Jim McMillan, a lifetime resident of the Dunbar area, passed away suddenly at home on Wed., Oct. 16, 2013. He was 83.
Jim was born near Dunbar on Aug. 12, 1930 to his parents, Elmer and Wilda McMillan (nee Hess). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lila McMillan (nee Holmes). He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Alfred, Keith, Ed, Alex, and his infant brother, Lyle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He attended public school at Dunbar and high school at Chesterville. He worked at Nestlé’s as a stationary engineer, and in later years, he operated an upholstery business out of his home.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Fri. Oct. 18 from 7 to 9 pm. An Odd Fellows service was held on Fri. evening at 9 pm. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on Sat., Oct. 19 at 12 pm with Rev. Joachim Barkley-Probst officiating followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were Mike Gruich, Glendon Moore, John Adametz, David Pemberton, Wayde Roles, and David Lapier.
