Leonard Moriarity passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on June 28, 2011, at the Township of Osgoode Care Centre, in his 90th year.
He was the son of the late William and Nellie Moriarity (nee Servage). He was the beloved husband and best friend of Rosemary (nee Kearns) for the past 66 years. He was the dear father of Madeline Bourbonnais (Paul) of Metcalfe, Leo (Linda) of Calgary, Eileen of Metcalfe, and the late Brian. Leonard was the much loved grandfather of Kathy McCord (Gordon) of Carp, Greg Bourbonnais (Marilyn) of Metcalfe, Holly and Bonny Moriarity of Calgary, and Robbi Moriarity of Fernie, B.C. He was the great-grandfather of Darren and Timothy McCord; and Jacob and Bradley Bourbonnais. He is survived by siblings Francis (Irma) of Ottawa, Mary McDermott (the late Don) of Ottawa, Louis (Mary) of Chesterville, Cassie Doherty (Pat) of Sutton, Ont., Anne Burkhart (Ed) of Syracuse, N.Y., Jean Le Page (Ken) of Nepean, Stella Kelly (the late Ted) of Ottawa, and Colleen Ethier (Mike) of Gatineau. He was predeceased by brothers, Vincent (the late Betty) of Syracuse, Raymond (Irene) of Mallorytown, Harold (Catherine) of Peterborough, and sisters, Teresa Kinne (the late Howard) of Syracuse, and infant Sheila.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Metcalfe on Sat., July 2. Interment was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were Greg Bourbonnais, Gordon McCord, George Zandbelt, Allan Stanley, Ben Fisher, and Steve Lafrance. The honourary pallbearers were Betty Eastman and Ron Stanley.
The arrangements were entrusted to the Daley Family Funeral Home in Metcalfe (613-821-2120).
