WINCHESTER – Once again, the minor hockey associations in North and South Dundas will combine forces to ice “B” Rep teams for the 2017-2018 Upper Canada Minor Hockey League (UCMHL) season.

North Dundas will ice a combined Atom Rep “B” Demons squad, which will play out of both the Joel Steele Community Centre in Winchester and the Chesterville Arena.

The pee wee, bantam and midget “B” Rep teams will wear the South Dundas Lions colours and call the Morrisburg Arena home. The Morrisburg facility is currently undergoing extensive renovations and should reopen on Sun., Oct. 22.

South Dundas Minor Hockey Association ice scheduler Jason Broad has had to book 150 hours of ice times in Cardinal, Spencerville, Winchester, Chesterville, Finch and Long Sault in September and October to accommodate minor hockey’s requirements.

There will not be a novice “B” rep team this season and the UCMHL will not accommodate a minor midget division.

North Dundas will ice 10 teams in 2017-2018.

UCMHL changes

The 2017-2018 UCMHL regular season schedule is set to open on Tues., Oct. 10 with several changes being made.

The season has been extended to March 3, 2018 with a schedule increase from 24 to 28 games.

All teams will play in one division, no east or west, with a semi-balanced schedule.

The top four teams will make the playoffs, meaning only two rounds of post-season play.
