Evelyn Phifer died after a brief illness on March 30, 2003 at the Dundas Manor Nursing Home in Winchester. She was 96.
She was born in Chesterville on July 4, 1906 to the late Marvin Robinson and Martha (nee Ball). She was a homemaker, and lived the majority of her life in the Williamsburg area, except for a period of approximately five years when she lived with her daughter Carol in Vernon.
She married the late Stirton Phifer in Chesterville on Jan. 1, 1930.
She is survived by children June (Ted) Herriman of Williamsburg, John (Barb) Phifer of Williamsburg, Carman (Jean) of Ottawa and Carol (Frank) Melanson of Vernon.
Mrs. Phifer was predeceased by daughter Jane Dillabough, sister Madeline Garlough, and brothers Burl, Bert and Basil Robinson.
She will be fondly remembered by eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her main interest was giving exceptional care to her family, and spending time with them.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on April 1. The funeral was held at the funeral home on April 2, with Rev. Sandy Macpherson officiating. Interment was at New Union Cemetery in Williamsburg.
Pallbearers were grandsons David Phifer, Jeff Phifer, Michael Phifer and Charles Dillabough.
