WINCHESTER – During my first month as sports reporter for the Winchester Press, I have heard the same six words from several people: “you have big shoes to fill.”

Cameron Kennedy

After reading some of the work that my predecessor, Al Van Bridger, has done and having heard the positive things spoken about him, I agree with those words.

This is my first gig after graduating from Loyalist College’s journalism program and it is one I am excited to have landed.

Being from South Stormont, I’ve got a couple memories of playing sports in North Dundas. My first day on the job with the Press, I stepped inside the Joel Steele Community Centre and began to remember battles against the North Dundas Demons as a kid playing for the South Stormont Selects. I also remember playing travelling baseball games against Winchester at Morgan Field. That huge fence in right field was a spectacle to me as it reminded me of Fenway Park’s Green Monster.

Now, I get to look forward to being on the other side of the arena boards or ball diamond fence, taking pictures and writing stories about all the sports that happen around here.

Please feel free to send in pictures, gamesheets or story ideas you have to me at: sports@winchesterpress.on.ca.
