Jean Elizabeth Porteous of Winchester was calledHome on Sun., Aug. 3, 2008. She was 92.
She was born on April 10, 1916 to Thomas Stobo and Eva Hanna atthe family farm in Cloverdale which is now the Cloverdale LinksGolf Course.
She married Hugh Porteous in September 1934, and they farmed allof their lives in the area. She was the cherished mother of Doreen(the late Maxwell McRobbie), Raymond (Shirley), and Wilmer (Linda),and was the much loved and respected grandmother of Eleanor (WallyMartin), Alan, Helen (Scott Campbell), Paul, Pamela, Curt (Amy),Evan (Jacquie), and Brent. She is also loved and missed by great-grandchildrenKristen, Corey, Dylan, Kyler, Brittney, Michaela, and Caleb. Sheis survived by her sister Madalene Walsh, and was predeceasedby two sisters Irene Baker, Marguerite Baker, and her three brothersMorton, Eldon, and Harold.
Friends called at the Daley Family Funeral Home in Metcalfe onMon., Aug. 4. The funeral service was held in the chapel of thefuneral home on Tues., Aug. 5 with Paster Bruce North officiating,followed by interment at Springhill Cemetery. The pallbearerswere grandsons Paul, Curt, Evan, and Brent Porteous, and AlanMcRobbie, and Scott Campbell.
