July 12, 1946 – Sept. 26, 2016
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Roger Richer on Mon., Sept. 26, 2016 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C.
Roger had open-heart surgery performed six weeks prior, but complications arose, and despite the valiant efforts of the surgeons, he did not survive the emergency operation.
He is survived by his companion of four years, France of Campbell River, B.C.; his former wife, Ellis of Nanaimo, B.C.; and his daughters, Robin of Nanaimo, and Liska (Kurt) of Ladner, B.C.
During Roger’s 20 years in Morewood, he was actively involved with the Morewood Fire Department, the Morewood R.A., and the Chesterville Legion.
In 1993, Roger and family moved to Nanaimo where he continued his community service and likewise in Campbell River.
He lived a full life and was very much his own man. He was a gentle man. He enjoyed reading the Winchester Press online.
At Roger’s request, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held in Campbell River at a later date.
