Township of North Dundas Councillor Tony Fraser (left), pictured here with Stormont, Dundas, and South Glengarry MP Guy Lauzon and ride co-chair Don Helman, led the charge to have the ride stop in Winchester.

The Ottawa edition of Telus Ride for Dad had a Winchester stop on its route for the first-time ever this year, with more than 1,500 motorcycles, and their riders, roaring through the village mid-morning Sat., June 3. The grounds of the Joel Steele Community Centre served as the resting point for the riders that set off from the nation’s capital early in the morning. Local church groups, and other organizations and businesses eagerly awaited their arrival, complete with snacks to offer and other refreshments. All told, the ride helped to generate $260,000 for prostate cancer research.
