Graham R. Smith A lifetime resident of Chesterville,Graham Smith died at home on Nov. 24, 2005, surrounded by hisfamily. He was 89.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Gladys Wingardof Williamsburg. Together, they operated Legacy Lodge, a heritagedairy farm, until their retirement in 1980.
Smith was the proud father of Barbara, Robert, and Brenda. Hewas the cherished grandfather of Geoffrey, Laura (Peter) Maher,and Jason (Cheri-Lee) Smith. He was also rewarded with an adorablegreat-granddaughter, Allison Maher.
Smith is survived by his sister, Ruth Widdows of Brockville, andhis brother, Dr. Douglas (Rita) Smith of Peterborough, as wellas several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm F. and Charlotte (Rae),and his youngest sister, Amorette in 1979 in Montreal.
Smith was a former member of the Egan Lake hunt camp and was nicknamed”Dead-eye Dick.” He always enjoyed a game of cards withfriends and was an avid reader who could still recite many selectionsof poetry learned in school.
In keeping with Smith’s wishes, there was no visitation. Inurnmenttook place at the family plot at Maple Ridge Cemetery on Sat.,Dec. 3.
