WINCHESTER – There will be 13 Winchester Sox ball teams taking to the diamonds in 2017.

Three of those squads are girls who will be playing fast-pitch. The mites will play their home games on Sunday while the minor pee wee will host the opposition on Tuesday’s and major pee wee will play ball at the 100 Club Park on Monday evening.

Winchester Minor Ball spokesman Jeremy Geurts reports the overall registration numbers are about the same as last summer.

Geurts along with co-organizers Kim and Greg Thompson have assumed the role of program co-ordinators taking over from Steve and Cathy Cochrane.

The new executive sincerely thanked Steve and Kathy for their 17 years of great dedication to Winchester baseball.

Many of the Sox teams will open their Upper Canada Little League Baseball season next week (Mon., May 8).

The Winchester baseball teams include: two T-ball (Monday and Wednesdays), three novice teams (Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays); two minor (Wednesday and Friday); two major (Thursdays in Winchester and Chesterville) and one junior/senior (Wednesdays).

The first coaches recruited include Nolan Winters, Chris Guy, Steve Horvath, Paul Allan, Warren Holmes, Geoffrey Guy, Brad Bouchard, Al Christophersen, Kern Byrne, Peter Onstein, Jeremy Geurts, Greg and Kim Thompson.
