William Delmer Spratt
Retired Leo’s Livestock auctioneer and farmer

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Delmer Spratt on the evening of Wed., Dec. 25, 2014 in Arnprior. He was 84. He was the devoted husband of Vera Alberta (nee Sine). He was the wonderful father to Gordon (Hazel), Janice, Carolyn (Tony), and Andrew. They will always remember how he taught them to ski, skate, and snowshoe! He was the loving grandfather to Heather and David in Edmonton, and Aisling, Aoife, and Ciarán in Brussels, Belgium. He was the dear brother to Melba (Ken), David (Beverly), and Roy (Marion), all in the Ottawa area.
His early years of farming were followed by partnering ownership and operating cattle sale barns, mainly at Leo’s Livestock in Greely, and the Embrun sale barn. During their retirement years, Delmer and Vera travelled extensively and lived in Mexico, many states in the U.S., and Vancouver Island, and they eventually settled in Arnprior. Delmer enjoyed most everything in life, as he used to say to Vera, “I don’t think there’s one thing left that we haven’t done; we’ve never missed a thing.”
The family wish to thank the staff at Island View Estate for their wonderful care during the last 10 years.
As wished by Delmer, cremation will be followed by a private interment under the warmth of the sunshine at Springhill Cemetery in Metcalfe.
