Chester Sproule, a resident of the Chesterville area for the past 43 years, passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital on Mon., April 9, 2012. He was 92.
Chester was born in Monkland on March 27, 1920 to his parents, Robert and Charlotte Sproule (nee Grant). He is survived by his children, Sheila (Wally) VandeKemp of Douglas, Arnold (Karen) of Calgary, Dale (Elsie) of Kemptville, David (Laureen) of Brooks, Alta., Penny (Al) Vanier of Berwick, Rick of Ottawa, and Bonnie Sproule (Shane Provost) of Vars, and his siblings, Lily Aitkins and Dorothy Cook, both of Cornwall. He was predeceased by his wife, Grace Sproule (nee Bender), his sons, Ranald and Kenneth, his sisters, Laura McBain and Hilda Cummings, and brothers Leonard, Irvin, and Myles. Chester will be fondly remembered by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Chesterville on Thurs., April 12 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am in the funeral home, with Rev. Wendy Wright-MacKenzie officiating. Donations to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
