Raymond Thompson passed away suddenly at home on Sat., Nov. 17, 2012. He was 85.
He was the dear husband of May, and father of Jim (Lori), Glenn, Valerie (Pat Anglehart), and Dorothy Rankin. He was the grandfather of Amanda Rankin; Brett and Jenna Thompson; and honourary grandfather of Michael, Sarah, and Willy Lang. Ray is survived by his brother, Bevis Thompson, his sister, Iris (Glen) Cunningham, and his half siblings, Joan (John) McLean, Lynn (Elsie) Thompson, Lyle (Ruth) Thompson, Beverley (Norman) Welk, and Faye (Glen) Kinsella. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Randy Rankin, brother, Mac, sisters, Lula (Calvin) Wagner, Gloria (Jack) Picard, and sister-in-law, Gladys Thompson. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family received friends at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Chesterville on Mon., Nov. 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on Tues., Nov. 20 at 2 pm followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery.
