There wasn’t much left of a beige-coloured Ford Focus that went up in flames Wed., Nov. 29. The car was pulled over onto the shoulder of County Road 31, a stone’s throw from Winchester BMR. It remains unclear what caused the blaze, but the driver told the Winchester Press it was “driving rough… kicking back some,” before being whisked away by the OPP officers on scene. The Press later learned the car had only recently been purchased at an auction, had much of its front-end rebuilt, and was en route to Chesterville to be gassed up. Village firefighters attended the scene to extinguish the flames, and helped direct the slowing traffic as passersby caught a glimpse of the wreckage. The driver was uninjured, escaping shortly before the fire spread. Press Photo – Uhrig
