Kevin “Goaler” Whitteker, a lifetime resident of the Williamsburg area, passed away at his home on Lightning Street on Tues., May 10, 2011. He was 47.
Kevin was an avid hockey player, and he earned the nickname “Goaler” because he had played goaltender for the Boucks Hill Boulders hockey team for many years. He also enjoyed a round of golf with friends, a quick game of poker, and spending time with his co-workers at Kevin Barkley Construction.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Charles and Twylla Whitteker (nee Prunner); his siblings, Robert of Williamsburg, and Heather (Sanjeev) Dutt of Ottawa; his grandmother, Orma Prunner of Williamsburg; and his nieces, Ena and Anjali. He was a dear nephew of Muriel Van Allen of Morrisburg, Denzil (Gayle) Prunner of Iroquois, and David (Cheryl) Prunner of Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Eva Whitteker, and Irwin Prunner, his cousin, Willie Prunner, and his uncle Ray Prunner.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg, on Thurs., May 26. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on Fri., May 27 at 11 am with Rev Noreen Gullons officiating. Interment took place in the Whitteker family plot at Boucks Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers were Kevin Barkley, Ed Burgess, Devin Johnstone, Steven Kerkhof, Shawn McMillan, and Raymond Van Moorsel.
