Barbara Wicks passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre in Cornwall on Fri., March 25, 2011 at the age of 55.
Barbara was born and raised in Winchester, but for the past 35 years, she lived at various health- care facilities as a result of an unfortunate traffic accident at the age of 21. Although she depended on the care of dedicated and compassionate healthcare workers, for which the family are forever grateful, she maintained a courageous smile on her face and a positive disposition. For the past few months, Barb’s spirit and will to live diminished. Mercy was bestowed upon her after a long battle, and the outcome is the comfort of knowing she is finally at peace.
Barbara was the loving daughter of the late William and Laura Wicks (nee Boisvenue). She was also predeceased by her brother, Fred. She is survived by her sister, Pearl (Don), and her brothers, William (Eunice), Earl (Eileen), Gerald (Barbara), Jim (Lisa), Bert, David, and Steven.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of M. John Sullivan Funeral Home in Cornwall. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Winchester District Memorial Hospital, Janet Macdonell Pavilion, and St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre have played an integral part in Barbara’s medical and personal care over the years. If so desired, donations to any one of these facilities would be appreciated.
