KEMPTVILLE – Its time for this year’s recruits to lace them up and the new coaching staff to start evaluating talent.

The Winchester Junior Hawks will launch their 50th season on Saturday (Aug. 26) in Kemptville at the North Grenville Community Centre.

Training camp registration will take place from 7 until 9 pm. The on-ice session is schedule for 9:30 until 11:50 pm. Session number two is slated to take place in the same facility on Wed., Aug. 30 (9:30 – 10:50 pm).

Hawks’ fans will get their first look at the new lineup on Thurs., Aug. 31 when the Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 (CCHL2) newest entry, the Embrun Panthers visit the Joel Steele Community Centre for an 8:15 pm exhibition tilt.

Winchester will be in Kemptville on Sat., Sept. 2 for a pre-season game (7:30 pm) against the Athens Aeros. The next day (Sun., Sept. 3), a rematch against the Panthers, in Embrun is set for 2 pm.

The Hawks will join the rest of the CCHL2 teams in the annual showcase (Sept. 9-10) at the Richcraft Sportsplex. Winchester will meet the new Carleton Place Canadians on Sat., Sept. 9 (5:15 pm) and the Perth Blue Wings on Sun., Sept. 10 (8:00 pm).

Home opener

Winchester’s 2017-2018 CCHL2 home opener will take place on Fri., Sept. 15 with the Ottawa West Golden Knights providing the opposition.

A special pre-game ceremony will mark the club’s 50th anniversary.
