Morley Winters, a lifetime resident of the area, passed away at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Mon., April 9, 2012. He was 81.
Morley was born in Osnabruck Township on Jan. 1, 1931 to his parents, Hubert and Carrie Winters (nee Ostler).
Morley worked at various jobs, including many years at the Co-Op in both Chesterville and Finch, before farming full-time in the Grantley area.
Morley is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruby, his children, Judy (Milton) Harding of Prescott, Steven of Chesterville, Brenda (Bill) Doornwaard of Winchester, Sheila (Gerry) van Rens of Metcalfe, and Donald and Douglas, both of Chesterville, his siblings, Marion Winters of Kemptville, and Bill Winters of Finch. He was predeceased by his parents, Hubert and Carrie, his brothers, Claude, Ralph, and Albert, and his sisters, Lena Gault, Hazel Lanteigne, June Chabot, and Pauline Windsor. Morley will be sadly missed by grandchildren Emily (Kevin) Melenhorst, Shane (Chelsey) Harding, Angela Doornwaard (James Jordan), Ian Harding, and Bryan van Rens. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Chesterville on Fri., April 13. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on Sat., April 14 at 11 am with Rev. Brian Barr officiating, followed by cremation. The pallbearers were grandchildren Shane Harding, Ian Harding, Emily Melenhorst, Angela Doornwaard, and Bryan Van Rens. Interment of cremated remains will be held later in the spring at Grantley Cemetery.
