Carol Vivian Woods

Carol Vivian Woods (nee Talbot) passed away the morning of Tues., Aug. 16, 2016 at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. She was 84.
Carol was born Oct. 21, 1931 in Stellarton, N.S. to Ella May (nee Fleming) and Leonard Talbot. She grew up in Stellarton, and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1950. She was stationed in Portage LaPrairie, Man, where she met John Francis Woods of Halifax, N.S. On Oct. 25, 1952, she and John married in Manitoba. Life in the military took her and her growing family to a number of postings, including France, back to Nova Scotia, then to Ottawa. They retired in 1990, where they ran a small farm near Inkerman.
She enjoyed a variety of creative pursuits, and loved to spend her spare time drawing, sewing, lace making, or doing other crafts. She was also an excellent baker, and loved to make pies for her family. Carol was in great health until the death of her beloved husband, John, in 2008.
Carol was known for her kind and quiet ways, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Carol is survived by her six children, Teresa, (John), Michael, and Stephen (Wei Wei), all of Calgary, David of Edmonton, Elizabeth (Rob) of Winnipeg, and Michaelle (Joe) of Toronto; as well as grandchildren, Sean of Winnipeg, and Maggie of Calgary. She is also survived by seven siblings residing in Nova Scotia — Lorraine DeYoung, Ronnie Talbot, Catherine Bowering, Billy Talbot, Vernon Talbot, Dorothy Irving, and Hartly Talbot.
Carol will be also be sadly missed by Share Ann Furog, who lovingly cared for her during the last six years. Carol was predeceased by her husband, John Francis Woods, who passed away on Oct. 28, 2008.
The funeral service was held at McInnis and Holloway, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre St. N., Calgary, Alta., on Sun., Aug. 21.
