CORNWALL – Adam Barkley turned in a bronze-medal effort representing the North Dundas District High School (NDDHS) Devils at the 2017 SD&G high school cross-country championships.

Fabienne Puenter registered a seventh-place finish representing the NDDHS Devils at the 2017 SD&G high school cross-country championships on Wed., Oct. 18.

The Winchester runner, a Grade 9 student at NDDHS, finished third in the midget boys race hosted by Holy Trinity High School last Wednesday (Oct. 18). Barkley was the top Devil in his division at the recent Turkey Trot Invitational Meet finishing 23rd (93 runners).

Holy Trinity’s Connor Hum won the race in a time of 15:20.

Two other Devils finished in the top ten. Fabienne Puenter placed seventh in the junior girls race and Ashley Wheeler finished eighth in the senior girls event.

North Dundas coach Kathi Poirier reported Tyler Snelson posted a personal best time, bettering his previous time by 19 seconds and place 16th in his midget boys race.

“Kendra Beuley [junior girls] fought through a knee injury and finished in an incredibly strong 13th place,” aid the coach. “Our exchange students, Ben Nevis and Brais Canitrot Lamas, also ran respectable races and hope to improve at EOSSAA.”

This year’s SD&G competition attracted at least one runner from every school. All tri-county runners qualify to run at EOSSAA, which will be held in Kemptville at St. Michael Catholic High School, tomorrow (Thurs., Oct. 26).
