Walter Joseph Billings
Nov. 7, 1928 – June 9, 2016

Walter J. Billings, a resident of Mountain for the past 42 years, passed away peacefully at Dundas Manor. He was 87.
Walter joined the Canadian military in the early 1950’s, and completed 25 years of service before returning to the local area. On Oct. 3, 1952, he married his sweetheart, Shirley Craig of Williamsburg, and they started their beautiful journey together. He loved the simple things in life such as fishing and outdoor adventures. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends, family, and neighbours. He will be truly missed by many.
Walter is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley; and his sons, Tim (Carol), Jamie (Cindy), and Doug (Janet). Walter was predeceased by his son, Ron. He was a fortunate man to have many grandchildren: Amanda, Alex, Allan, Christopher, Jonathan, Kyle, Kalina, Natalie, Ryan, and Sarah; and 10 great-grandchildren. Walter is survived by his sister, Pat, and his brother, Dick, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a public visitation at Byers Funeral Home, 2990 Church St. in South Mountain, on Fri., June 17 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Knights Cemetery on Van Camp Road. A luncheon will follow at approximately 2:30 pm in the library in South Mountain, where everyone is invited to share fond memories and great stories of Walter.
